An abelian group \(G\) is called generalized Bassian if the existence of an injective homomorphism \(G \to G/N,\) for some subgroup \(N\) of \(G,\) forces \(N\) to be a direct summand of \(G.\) The generalized Bassian groups were studied by \textit{A. R. Chekhlov} et al. [Acta Math. Hung. 168, No. 1, 186--201 (2022; Zbl 1524.20044)].\N\NIn the paper under review, the authors establish some new properties of generalized Bassian groups. The main results include the following:\N\NTheorem 3.1. The group \(G\) has finite torsion-free rank and bounded \(p\)-torsion if and only if it is decomposable as \(G = H \oplus S,\) where \(H\) is Bassian and \(S\) is a torsion group with bounded \(p\)-torsion.\N\NTheorem 3.5. A generalized Bassian group has finite torsion-free rank.\N\NCorollary 3.6. Every generalized Bassian group is \(B+E\), i.e. \(G = B \oplus E\) where \(B\) is Bassian and \(E\) is elementary.\N\NTheorem 3.8. Suppose \(G = A \oplus E\) is a \(B+E\)-group, where \(E\) is elementary and every elementary direct summand of \(A\) is finite. Then \(G\) is generalized Bassian.\N\NTheorem 4.7. Suppose \(G\) is a group with a free nice subgroup \(F\) with \(G/F\) torsion. Then \(G\) is generalized Bassian if and only if it is a \(B+E\)-group.
