Let \(A\) be an iterated tilted algebra of Dynkin type \(\Delta\), over an algebraically closed field \(k\), and \(T(A)\) denote the trivial extension of \(A\) by \(DA=\Hom_k(A,k)\). Then the stable part of the Auslander-Reiten quiver of \(T(A)\) has universal cover \(\mathbb{Z}\Delta\). The Auslander-Reiten quiver \(\Gamma_A\) of \(A\) can be embedded into \(\mathbb{Z}\Delta\). This embedding has been considered by \textit{O. Mendoza Hernández} and \textit{M. I. Platzeck} [in J. Algebra 265, No. 1, 247-263 (2003; Zbl 1070.16019)]. They have shown that in order to find this embedding one needs to know a set of vertices of \(\mathbb{Z}\Delta\) corresponding to the radicals of indecomposable projective modules over \(T(A)\). Such sets were called configurations by \textit{C. Riedtmann} and studied in a more general setting of selfinjective algebras in a series of papers [e.g. in Representation theory II, Proc. 2nd int. Conf., Ottawa 1979, Lect. Notes Math. 832, 449-520 (1980; Zbl 0455.16014) and J. Algebra 82, 309-327 (1983; Zbl 0514.16018)]. The contents of the present paper is another approach to the problem of finding configurations for the trivial extension \(T(A)\) of \(A\). A combinatorial algorithm for determining configurations is given in the case when \(A\) is an iterated tilted algebra of Dynkin type \(\mathbb{A}_n\).
