This article is devoted to the connection between cohomology and scattering theory at low energies. Scattering theory for \(p\)-forms on manifolds with cylindrical ends has a direct interpretation in terms of cohomology. The Hodge isomorphism allows the authors to regard the scattering matrix at low energy as an operator on the cohomology of the boundary. Its value at zero describes the image of the absolute cohomology in the cohomology of the boundary. This point of view permits the interpretation of scattering parameters like Eisenbud-Wigner time delay at zero energy or the scattering length in terms of cohomology. Good results are obtained opening the possibility of analyzing scattering problems as geometrical problems. In fact, one of the consequences of the paper is the estimation of the scattering length in terms of geometrical data like the volume of certain homological systoles.
