Suppose that \(\Gamma\) is a layered oriented graph and \(A(\Gamma)\) the associated algebra considered by \textit{I. Gelfand, V. Retakh, S. Serconek}, and \textit{R. L. Wilson}, [Sel. Math., New Ser. 11, No. 2, 281-295 (2005; Zbl 1080.05040)]. Let \(A(\Gamma)^!\) be its dual and \(A(\Gamma_\chi)\) the algebra associated with a finite cell complex via its layered graph \(\Gamma_\chi\). These algebras arise when one considers roots of non-commutative polynomials. The paper presents a survey of results on homological properties of these algebras.
