The author considers here algebraic discrete de la Vallée Poussin (VP) means \(V_n f\) of \(f\) by delayed arithmetic means from \(n - m \) to \(n + m - 1\) of the Fourier-Jacobi partial sums. In recent years, these means have emerged as very useful tools, for example, in proving various estimates in polynomial approximation theory (see, e.g., [\textit{G. Mastroianni} and \textit{W. Themistoclakis}, J. Approx. Theory 162, No. 11, 2078--2105 (2010; Zbl 1219.41005)]). Concerning the weighted uniform approximation of \( f \) by \(V_n f \), the author obtains an optimal rate of convergence under very simple conditions on the exponents of the involved Jacobi weights. Extending the case \(n=3m\), for interpolating VP polynomials considered in the author's paper [Acta Math. Hung. 84, No. 3, 221--235 (1999; Zbl 0937.41002)], sufficient conditions to get interpolation for \(n\geq m \), have been given here.
