The conditional {Apollonius equation} has its origin in a property of norms in inner product spaces. It reads: \[ 4f\left(z-\frac{x+y}{2}\right)+f(x-y)=2f(x-z)+2f(y-z),\tag{1} \] for \(x,y,z\in U\) such that \(x-y,y-z,z-\frac{x+y}{2}\in U\), where \(f: U\to G\) maps a nonempty subset \(U\) of a normed space \(X\) into an abelian group \((G,+)\). The group \(G\) is endowed with a complete, translation invariant, ultrametric \(d\) (i.e., a metric satisfying \(d(x,z)\leq\max\{d(x,y),d(y,z)\}\), \(x,y,z\in G\)). This allows to introduce {approximate solutions} of the Apollonius equation (1) as those fulfilling the functional inequality \[ d\left(4f\left(z-\frac{x+y}{2}\right)+f(x-y),2f(x-z)+2f(y-z)\right)\leq\chi(x,y,z),\qquad\tag{2} \] for \(x,y,z\in U\) such that \(x-y,y-z,z-\frac{x+y}{2}\in U\), where \(\chi: U^3\to \mathbb{R}_{+}\) is a given control mapping. The aim of the paper is to verify the hyperstability of (1), i.e., to show that, under some additional assumptions on \(U\) and \(\chi\), any solution of (2) is, in fact, a solution of (1). In particular, such a result is obtained for \(\chi\) being of the form \(\chi(x,y,z)=h_1(x)h_2(y)h_3(z)\) or \(\chi(x,y,z)=h(x)+h(y)+h(z)\) with appropriate mappings \(h,h_1,h_2,h_3: U\to \mathbb{R}_{+}\).
