On regularity for de Rham's functional equations (Q727943)

Let \(X\) be a metric space, \(f_i: X\to X\) given weak contractions satisfying \(f_{i-1}(\mathrm{Fix}(f_{m-1}))=f_i(\mathrm{Fix}(f_0))\) (\(i=0,1,\dots,m-1\)) where \(\mathrm{Fix}(f_i)\) denotes a fixed point of \(f_i\). The author considers the functional equation: \[ G(t)=f_{i}(G(mt-i)),\qquad \frac{i}{m}\leq t\leq\frac{i+1}{m},\;i=0,1,\ldots, m-1, \] with an unknown mapping \(G: [0,1]\to X\). He obtains some new results concerning the regularity of \(G\) for some specific \(X\) and under suitable assumptions on \(f_i\). Several examples and applications to classical functions are given.
