This article is concerned with the inverse scattering problem for the matrix Sturm-Liouville equation \[ -Y'' + QY = \rho^2 Y \] on the real line, where \(\rho\) is a spectral parameter and \(Q\) is a self-adjoint matrix potential satisfying the condition \[ \int_{\mathbb{R}} (1+|x|) \|Q(x)\| dx < \infty. \] Its main result provides a characterisation of all possible scattering data by establishing necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the inverse scattering problem.
