The paper under review is concerned with the partition of a Coxeter group \(W\) (in particular, affine Weyl groups) into Kazhdan-Lusztig cells with respect to a weight function. \textit{M. Geck}, [in Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 35, No. 5, 608-614 (2003; Zbl 1045.20004)], induced any left cell of a parabolic subgroup of \(W\) to a union of left cells of \(W\). By generalizing the arguments of Geck, the present paper induces certain subsets of \(W\) (which may not be parabolic subgroups) to a union of left cells of \(W\). The result can be regarded as a generalized induction theorem compared with that in [loc. cit.]. As an application of the above result, the paper gives an explicit decomposition of the affine Weyl group \(\widetilde G_2:=\langle s_1,s_2,s_3\mid(s_1s_2)^6=(s_2s_3)^3=(s_1s_3)^2=1\rangle\) into left cells and two-sided cells for any weight function \(L\) satisfying \(L(s_1)>4L(s_2)=4L(s_3)\).
