Let \(X\) be a smooth projective variety over \(\mathbb{C}\) of dimension \(n\), and let \(N^cH^i(X,\mathbb{Q})\) denote the coniveau filtration. The author proposes in this paper the following conjecture: If \(H^i(X,\mathbb{Q})=N^1H^i(X,\mathbb{Q})\) holds for \(i\in [\ell+1,n]\), then for any smooth complete intersection \(Y\subset X\) of dimension \(\ell\), the push-forward map \(A_0Y_{\mathbb{Q}}\rightarrow A_0X_{\mathbb{Q}}\) is surjective. The main result of this paper provides some special cases of varieties for which this conjecture hold. For instance, if \(X\) is a smooth projective threefold which is dominated by a product of curves and satisfies \(H^3(X,\mathbb{Q})=N^1H^3(X,\mathbb{Q})\), then for any smooth ample hypersurface \(Y\subset X\), the map \(A_0Y_{\mathbb{Q}}\rightarrow A_0X_{\mathbb{Q}}\) is surjective. The main ingredient used in this paper is Kimura's nilpotence theorem proved in [\textit{S.-I. Kimura}, Math. Ann. 331, No. 1, 173--201 (2005; Zbl 1067.14006)].
