For a normed algebra with an approximate identity, the author introduces some notions of invertibility of a net in the algebra with respect to the given approximate identity. By using this terminology, the author proves the following Wiener-Tauberian theorem for locally compact abelian groups: Let \(G\) be a locally compact abelian group with its dual group \(\Gamma\). If \(\hat{\psi}\in A(\Gamma)\) never vanishes on \(\Gamma\), then there is a sequential, bounded approximate identity \(\{\hat{e_n}\}_{n\in \mathbb N}\) in \(A(\Gamma)\) such that for every \(\hat{\vartheta}\in A(\Gamma)\) and \(\epsilon> 0\), there are \(N(\epsilon)\) and a sequence \(\{\hat{f_n}\}_{n\in \mathbb N}\) in \(A(\Gamma)\) such that \(\|\hat{\vartheta}- \hat{\psi}\hat{f_n}\|_{A(\Gamma)}< \epsilon\) for all \(n\geq N(\epsilon)\). He also gives a Wiener-Tauberian-type theorem for general normed algebras with an approximate identity.
