The genus spectrum of a hyperbolic 3-manifold (Q743735)

The authors study totally geodesic immersions of orientable, finite-type surfaces into a Riemannian manifold. Specifically, the case of a complete orientable hyperbolic 3-manifold of finite volume is considered. A basic tool in this study is represented by the notion of geometric genus spectrum that is introduced here. Its relation to the geometry of the manifold is explored obtaining multiplicity and classification results.
