Let \(G\) be a real Lie group with Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{g}\) and let \(\pi\) be a unitary representation of \(G\) acting in a Hilbert space \(\mathcal{H}\). The moment map for the representation \(\pi\) maps the space of non-zero smooth vectors for the representation \(\pi\) into the dual vector space of the Lie algebra as follows. Given a non-zero smooth vector \(\xi,\) \(X\in\mathfrak{g}\), the moment map \(\Psi_{\pi}\left( \xi\right) \) maps the Lie algebra element \(X\) to \(\frac{1}{i}\frac{\left\langle d\pi\left( X\right) \xi,\xi\right\rangle }{\left\langle \xi,\xi\right\rangle },\) where \(d\pi\) is the derived representation. The moment set \(I_{\pi}\) for the representation \(\pi\) is defined to be the closure of the image of the space of non-zero smooth vectors under the moment map. Furthermore, the unitary dual of the Lie group is said to be moment separable if the moment sets of two non-equivalent elements of the unitary dual are distinct. It is known that the unitary dual of an arbitrary simply connected and connected nilpotent Lie group is not moment separable. In the case of an exponential solvable Lie group, D. Arnal and M. Selmi showed how to construct an overgroup containing the given Lie group, and an injective map \(\Phi\) between the unitary dual of the group into the unitary dual of the overgroup such that the image of the unitary dual of the group under the map \(\Phi\) is moment separable with the additional property that \(I_{\Phi\left( \pi\right) }\) characterizes the representation \(\pi\). In the paper under review, the authors focus on a class of diamond Lie groups. More precisely, they consider a Lie group \(G_{n}\) with Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{g}_{n}\) spanned by \(H_{1},\dots,H_{n},X_{1},\dots,X_{n} ,Y_{1},\dots,Y_{n},Z\) with non-trivial Lie brackets \(\left[ H_{k} ,X_{j}+iY_{j}\right] =i\alpha_{k}\delta_{kj}\left( X_{j}+iY_{j}\right) \) and \(\left[ X_{k},Y_{j}\right] =\delta_{kj}Z.\) The main contribution of the authors is a proof of the existence of a quadratic overgroup containing \(G_{n}\) and the map \(\Phi\) between the unitary dual of the group into the unitary dual of the overgroup such that the image of the unitary dual of the group under the map \(\Phi\) is moment separable with the additional property that \(I_{\Phi\left( \pi\right) }\) characterizes any representation \(\pi\) in the unitary dual of \(G_{n}.\)
