The authors are concerned with the PDE problem \[ \Delta u+\lambda \frac{u^p}{|x|^{s_1}}+\frac{u^{2*(s_2)-1}}{|x|^{s_2}}=0,\quad u>0\quad\text{in }\Omega, \] subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions on \(\partial\Omega\). Here \(\Omega\) is a \(C^1\)-bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^N\), \(N\geq 3\), whose closure contains the origin, while the exponents satisfy \(0\leq s_1,s_2<2\), \(\lambda\in {\mathbb R}\setminus\{0\}\), \(1\leq p\leq 2^*(s_1)-1\). The main results of the paper establish the existence of a solution which in some situation is a ground state for the problem.
