A number of authors have studied a generalization of the well-known self- dual Yang-Mills equations, in 4-dimensions, to quaternionic manifolds of higher dimensions. Examples of these manifolds are the quaternionic projective spaces, extending the 4-dimensional case \({\mathbb{H}}{\mathbb{P}}^ 1\equiv S^ 4\). This paper gives a detailed description of the moduli space of Sp(n) solutions with Chern class 1 over \({\mathbb{H}}{\mathbb{P}}^ n\). There is a Ward correspondence which identifies these connections with certain holomorphic Sp(n,\({\mathbb{C}})\) bundles over \({\mathbb{C}}{\mathbb{P}}^{2n+1}\). Using a result of H. Spindler, which characterizes the null correlation bundles over \({\mathbb{C}}{\mathbb{P}}^{2n+1}\), the authors obtain an explicit description of the moduli space, together with formulae for the connections in terms of matrix data. The natural action of \(SL(n+1,{\mathbb{H}})\) on the moduli space is transitive, and the moduli space is the quotient \(SL(n+1,{\mathbb{H}})/Sp(n+1)\). The authors define a compactification of the moduli space by direct methods, and show that this fits in naturally with the matrix description. A new feature, when \(n>1\) is the presence in the compactification of points representing singular solutions, with singularities along linear quaternionic subspaces.
