    For the Helmholtz equation in polar coordinates (r,\(\phi)\), specifically for boundary problems in the domain \(0<a\leq r<\infty\), the author has studied an integral transform that resembles the Kontorovich-Lebedev transform, namely \(F(u)=\int^{\infty}_{a}H_ u^{(1)}(kr)f(r)dr/r,\) where \(H_ u^{(1)}(kr)\) is a Hankel function. The formal inverse is a usually-divergent eigenfunction expansion, but, in a previous paper, using a convergence factor, he found a valid inversion formula when \(k>0\). Here, modifying this result, he obtains a valid inversion formula for complex k with \(Re(k)>0\) and \(Im(k)>0\). Indeed, for continuous \(r^{-1}f(r)\) in L(a,\(\infty)\), he shows that \[ if(r)/\pi =\lim_{c\to \infty}\sum uJ_ u(ka)H_ u^{(1)}(kr)F(u)\exp (cu^ 2)/(\partial /\partial u)H_ u^{(1)}(ka) \] summed over all complex values \(u_ n\) in the first quadrant such that \(H_ u^{(1)}(ka)=0\). Here \(c>0\). The proof of this expansion derives first an integral inversion formula for the transform that also uses the convergence factor \(\exp (cu^ 2)\).
