For a series \(\sum u_ n\) define \(t_ n=\sum^{n}_{k=0}u_ k\phi (a+kn^{-1}(b-a))\), \(n>0\), and let the sum of \(\sum u_ n\) be lim \(t_ n\). The author shows that if \(\phi\) ''(x)\(\leq 0\), \(\phi (a)=1\), \(\phi (b)=0\), then the method is equivalent and absolutely equivalent to (C,1) (the case \(a=0\), \(b=1\), \(\phi (x)=1-x)\). It follows in particular that Faber's method \((a=0\), \(b=\pi /2\), \(\phi (x)=x \cot x)\) is equivalent to (C,1).
