The classification of three-dimensional manifolds admitting a homogeneous almost contact metric structure is very difficult in the full generality. In this paper the author approaches this problem by studying three-dimensional manifolds admitting a homogeneous almost cosymplectic structure. He proves that a simply connected homogeneous almost cosymplectic three-manifold is either a Riemannian product of type \(\mathbb R \times N\) where \(N\) is a Kähler surface of constant curvature or a Lie group \(G\) equipped with a left-invariant almost cosymplectic structure. Here, also left-invariant almost cosymplectic structures on a three-dimensional Lie group \(G\) are classified. The author shows that the Reeb vector of any almost cosymplectic three-manifold, except one case, defines a harmonic map \(\psi:(M,g) \to (T^1 M, g_s)\) where \(T^1M\) denotes the unit tangent sphere bundle equipped with the Sasakian metric.
