      The second order differential inequality with nonlinear memory term \[ \begin{cases} w'' + a|w|^q \geq b \int_0^t (t-s)^{-\gamma} \big|w(s)\big|^p ds\;,\quad t\geq 0\;,\\ w(0) = w_0\;,\quad w'(0) = w_1\;, \end{cases} \] where \(w\) is a real-valued function on \([0,\infty)\), and \(0<\gamma<1\), \(a>0\), \(b>0\), \(p>1\), \(q>0\) are constants, is considered. Some non-existence results of classical global solutions are obtained. An application to a semilinear hyperbolic equation in a bounded domain is also given.
