This book is essentially a book on Mechanical Vibrations written for beginners. It starts with simple harmonic motion and includes other topics such as free and forced vibration of single degree of freedom system with and without damping. It also includes a chapter on multi-degree of freedom system. The basic concepts are explained in a simple manner and derivations of all related formulations are described in detail in a very systematic manner. The concepts are illustrated with neat diagrams to allow the reader to grasp the basic concepts. Each chapter provides a large number of worked out examples to explain the concepts. Exercise problems are given at the end of each chapter but answers are not provided. There are a large number of books on Mechanical Vibrations by eminent authors, such as Timoshenko, Leonard Meirovitch, Schaum Series, etc. However only five References are mentioned at the end of the book and none of the standard textbooks is cited. The authors are advised to take these shortcomings in the next edition of the book. Otherwise, the book is very well written. The reviewer recommends the book to students of Aeronautical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering stream.
