A fully discrete Crank-Nicolson leap-frog time-stepping decoupled (CNLFD) scheme is studied for the fluid-fluid interaction problems. The spatial discretization is performed by the finite element method (FEM). The nonlinear interface condition is decoupled using a geometric averaging of the jump. The scheme has some favorable properties such as decoupling large problems, easy implementation of subdomain solvers, parallel computation in decoupled subdomain equations, allowing to use large time steps. The unconditional stability of the scheme is proven and various numerical experiments are performed to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method.
