The Boltzmann gas kinetic equation is linearized by replacing the velocity distribution function by constant velocities, positive or negative in the three Cartesian directions. The discretized general equation for a n-component gas mixture is developed and the shock wave propagation at infinite Mach number is considered. This generalizes the results of \textit{J. Broadwell} [J. Fluid Mech. 19, 401-414 (1964; Zbl 0151.410); Phys. Fluids 7, 1243-1247 (1964; Zbl 0123.211)] for a one component gas.
