This paper considers the concept of a generalised polymatroid as introduced by \textit{A. Frank} [Generalized polymatroids, Proc. 6th Hungarian Combinatorial Colloquium 1981 (to appear)]. The author shows that a generalised polymatroid is a projection of a base polyhedron associated with a submodular system and discusses some of the resulting implications.
