Let \(X\) be an \(n\)-dimensional complex manifold, \(U\subset X\) an open subset, \(Y=X\backslash U\), \(E\) a holomorphic vector bundle on X and \(\Omega^ p\) \((p=0,...,n)\) the sheaf of germs of holomorphic \(p\)-forms on \(X\). The following holomorphic analog of the Alexander-Pontrjagin duality theorem is proven: if \(H^ j(X,\Omega^ p(E^*))\) and \(H^ j(U,\Omega^ p(E^*))\) are finite dimensional \((j=n-q-1,n-q,n-q+1)\), then there is an isomorphism between \(H^ q\!_ c(Y,\Omega^{n-p}(E)_{| Y})\) and \([H^{n-q}(X,U;\Omega^ p(E^*))]^*\), \(p,q=0,...,n.\) In case \(X\) is Stein, one gets (with the notations and hypotheses above) that \(H^ q\!_ c(Y,\Omega^{n-p}(E)_{| Y})\) is isomorphic to \([H^{n-q- 1}(U,\Omega^ p(E^*))]^*\), \(q=0,...,n-2\), \(p=0,...,n.\) Finally the authors apply the duality theorem to obtain a holomorphic version of the well known Jordan-Brouwer separation theorem.
