A remark on two Hilbert space scattering theory (Q792600)

The question of existence and completeness of wave operators is considered in the frame work of Birman-Belopol'skij theory. A result particularly adjusted to the case of infinite dimensional eigenspaces occuring in problems of mathematical physics is obtained. By adding an assumption that is naturally satisfied in many applications a conclusion presumed in a paper by \textit{W. C. Lyford}, Math. Ann. 217, 257-261 (1975; Zbl 0323.47006), is shown to be valid.
