A tiling of \(R^ 2\) is a family of closed topological disks having pairwise disjoint interiors and covering \(R^ 2\). A nondegenerate edge of a tiling is a simple arc which is a connected component of finitely many tiles. A point is called a singular point of a tiling if every neighborhood of it meets infinitely many tiles. Given a tiling, it is shown that the set of boundary points of all tiles contains at most countably many points which do not lie in a nondegenerate edge if and only if there are at most countably many singular points.
