The author proves a result on the extension of CR functions from a CR submanifold, M, to CR functions on another CR submanifold, \(\tilde M\), of one higher dimension. The improvement over previous results of this nature lies in a weaker hypothesis on the relation between a normal vector to M and the Levi form of M. In addition \(\tilde M\) is shown to exhibit a greater degree of smoothness than in previous results. - The author uses a refinement of the technique of analytic discs in which \(\tilde M\) is swept out by the centers of the discs. Thus the author is able to avoid some of the difficulties inherent in describing how the boundaries of the discs attach to M. The author also provides a nice review of the analytic disc construction.
