EDTOL systems can be used to approximate real numbers by considering the limit of the ratio of the number of occurrences of one symbol to the number of occurrences of another symbol in a sequence of derived words of increasing length. The complexity of this limit value is shown to be related to the structure of the generating systems. Particularly those limit ratios are examined which belong to the quadratic closure of rationals. Limit points associated with an EDTOL language are discussed, too.
