The book is dedicated to the work of H. Bekić and contains selected papers. H. Bekić was one of the key members of the IBM Vienna Laboratory and so many of his works are connected to the developments there especially to the development of PL/1. The selected papers are grouped into three sections: Languages, Language Definition and Parallelism. Many of the works of the first two sections are devoted to PL/1.
