The authors are interested in global classical solutions for semilinear parabolic systems \[ \partial u^ i/\partial t-Lu^ i+c^ i\cdot \nabla u^ i=f^ i(u)\text{ on } \Omega \times {\mathbb{R}}_+ \] together with some initial conditions and Neumann boundary conditions. L is some fixed elliptic operator in each line. Local existence is well known, in order to ensure global existence, one has to show that the maximum of \(| u|\) can not blow up in finite time. This is done under the assumptions of the existence of a Lyapunov-type auxiliary function H: \(\overline{{\mathbb{R}}^ m_+}\to {\mathbb{R}}\), fulfilling e.g. \[ \sum (\partial H/\partial u_ i)f^ i\leq aH(u)+b,\quad \partial^ 2H/\partial u_ i\partial u_ j\geq 0,\quad H(u)=0\Leftrightarrow u=u_ 0 \] for some unique \(u_ 0\) etc. The authors conclude with some concrete models of chemical systems, where the assumptions are met.
