Let \(D=-id/dx\) be the differentiation operator in \(L^ p({\mathbb{R}})\), \(1<p<\infty\). For each Fourier p-multiplier \(\phi\), let \(\phi\) (D) be the corresponding (bounded) operator in \(L^ p({\mathbb{R}})\). In this note a certain closed subalgebra \({\mathcal A}\) of \(\phi\) (D), \(\phi\) a p- multiplier, is studied. Elements of \({\mathcal A}\) are synthesized, via an ``integration procedure'', from the projection oprators \(\chi_ E(D)\), where \(E\subseteq {\mathbb{R}}\) are Borel sets such that \(\chi_ E\) are p- multipliers. This ``integration procedure'' is akin to the spectral theorem for normal operators in Hilbert space and the elements of \({\mathcal A}\) are ``almost'' spectral operators in \(L^ p({\mathbb{R}})\), in the sense of N. Dunford.
