Let X be a 1-connected manifold and let \(X^ S\) be its free loop space. There are power maps induced on the free loop space by maps of degree p on the circle S. These power maps induce maps on \((X^ S\times_ SES)_ Q\). Infinitesimal versions of these maps are identified with Adams operations on Hochschild homology and also on cyclic homology. These maps are intertwined with Adams operations on Hochschild homology and also on cyclic homology. The isomorphism between the reduced Hochschild homology of the de Rham complex of X and the reduced cohomology of \(X^ S\) intertwines the power maps and the Adams operations. Also the isomorphism between the cyclic homology of the de Rham complex of X and the equivariant homology of \(X^ S\) intertwines the power maps and the Adams operation. The authors als define a Hodge structure on these algebraic objects and then define an Euler-Poincaré- Hodge number.
