Random permutations and neutral evolution models (Q804503)

The authors consider a permutation-valued Markov process to describe the genealogical structure of a population allowing mutation and immigration. The branching trees describing the families in the population are put in correspondence with cycles of permutations. The main justification for this approach is the insight it provides into the combinatorial structure of the process.
