A general approach to the existence of minimizers of one-dimensional non- coercive integrals of the calculus of variations (Q806026)

The authors give a general approach to obtain the existence of minimizers for a class of one-dimensional nonparametric integrals of the calculus of variations. No assumption of coercivity is considered; the result is obtained by assuming some structure conditions on the derivatives of the integrand function. The authors give also some applications of this result to interesting problems of different type.
