Subject of the paper is the use of Poisson equations for the generation of two-dimensional grids. The right hand sides are used to control the geometric behaviour of the grid at the boundary which is important in applications, e.g. for patching grids. The control on the whole boundary is achieved by the choice of power-law functions instead of the conventional exponential functions. For a region having boundaries with large curvature or when clustering grids are required at some particular locations, the control functions can have very large magnitudes. To guarantee a good numerical stability in spite of this fact, the weighting function scheme along with the SIS (susceptible-infected-susceptible) solver is used for the solution of the elliptic grid generation equations. Computed grids illustrate the excellent performance of the developed method.
