Using the analytical solution derived in part I, see the preceding review, Zbl 0731.92012, for the forward problem, here the inverse problem is studied, that is: knowing point measurements of the potential on the external cylinder \((r=a)\) but not f(r,\(\Phi\)) on \(z=0\), the potential on the epicardial surface \((r=1)\) is sought. On the basis of truncated series, it is shown that an approximated solution can be found as the solution of a linear problem. But the uniqueness and ill-posedness of the original problem are not studied. For example, the majorization of the remainder of the series may be not uniform with respect to the data. After Fourier transform in \(\Phi\) and Laplace transform in z the linear problem is solved by singular value decomposition, neglecting the smallest singular values. The discretization of the integral transforms is discussed. The measurement points are chosen as the pivotal points of the Gaussian quadrature formula. A numerical experiment is given using computer generated data.
