The results on the group \(H_ 2(n_+(X))\) for the standard nilpotent positive part \(n_+(X)\) of the graded Lie algebra X of Cartan type are given. The group \(H_ 2(n_+(X))\) is naturally interpreted as a minimal set of defining relations for \(n_+(X)\). Let \(r_ m(X)=\dim H_ 2^{(m)}(n_+(X))\) (the grading of \(H_ 2\) is inherited from X). The following convexity hypothesis is formulated: if \(r_ m(X_ n)=0\), then also \(r_{m+1}(X_ n)=0\) and \(r_ m(X_{n+1})=0\). It follows from computer calculations that by the hypothesis \(r_ m(X_ n)=0\), \(m>2\), for n large enough, where \(X_ n=S_ n\), \(K_ n\). It is true for \(X_ n=W_ n\) [see \textit{D. B. Fuks}, Cohomology of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras (Nauka 1984; Zbl 0592.17011) (Consultants Bureau 1986; Zbl 0667.17005)]). However, it is proved that \(r_ 3(H_ n)\geq 2n\).
