The author defines class of discrete groups G, which are called A-groups, satisfying a certain growth condition on the cardinality of \(F^ n=FF...F\) (n-times) for F any finite subset of G. The class of A-groups is shown to include nilpotent groups and [FC] groups (groups such that the conjugacy class [g] of any element \(g\in G\) is finite). For measures \(\mu\) on G with finite support, the author gives an upper bound for the norms of \((\delta -\mu)^{-1}\) and exp(\(\mu\)) in terms of the spectral radius r(\(\mu\)) of \(\mu\) when \(r(\mu)<1\).
