The first issue of the Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A, in 2006 is dedicated to Bruce Rothschild and Basil Gordon. This paper was written to honor and highlight Bruce Rothschild's research in combinatorics. It contains a complete bibliography of Bruce Rothschild. The majority of his papers are in combinatorics and in an area that many of us associate with Bruce, Ramsey theory. This paper contains a brief historical introduction to Ramsey theory and then a more detailed discussion of Rothschild's results in Ramsey theory. The author devotes a separate section to the Graham-Rothschild parameter sets and the Graham-Rothschild theorem which is often viewed as a starting point of Ramsey theory. In the last section, Hindman describes some of the other contributions of Rothschild in combinatorics in areas such as networks, graph theory, and game theory. He includes the Hajnal-Rothshchild generalization of the Erdős-Ko-Rado theorem and some of Rothschild's work characterizing subspaces of different kinds of spaces (vector spaces, projective spaces). In addition to the bibliography, the paper also contains the mathematical family tree of Bruce Rothschild.
