The authors prove that a finite dimensional quasi-Hopf algebra whose radical is a quasi-Hopf ideal of prime codimension \(p\) is either a twist of a Hopf algebra or of one of the quasi-Hopf algebras \(H(2)\), \(H_\pm(p)\), \(A(q)\) or \(H(32)\) constructed by the authors [in Math. Res. Lett. 11, No. 5--6, 685--696 (2004; Zbl 1080.16041) and J. Pure Appl. Algebra 198, No. 1--3, 165--174 (2005; Zbl 1074.16024)]. This result implies the classification of finite tensor categories whose simple objects are invertible and form a group of order \(p\) under tensor product, because such a tensor category is always the representation category of such a quasi-Hopf algebra. It is also shown that liftings of \textit{N. Andruskiewitsch} and \textit{H.-J. Schneider} quasi-Hopf algebras [Adv. Math. 154, No. 1, 1--45 (2000; Zbl 1007.16027)] are twist equivalent to Hopf algebras.
