The authors main result concerns a lower bound for the (a.s.) box dimension of projections of a set \(F\), in terms of the box dimension of the set, and a term depending on the Aussouad dimension \(\overline{\dim}_A F\) and Assouad spectrum \(\overline{\dim}_A^\theta F\) of the set: for any \(\theta \in (0,1)\), any bounded set \(F\) and a.e. \(V\in G(n,m)\) and \[ \overline{\dim}_B \ \pi_V \ F \geq \overline{\dim}_B \ F - \max\{0,\overline{\dim}_A^\theta F-m, (\overline{\dim}_A F-m)(1-\theta)\}. \] By sending \(\theta \to 1\), one obtains a bound in terms of the quasi-Assouad dimension \(\overline{\dim}_{qA} F=\lim_{\theta \to 1} \overline{\dim}_A^\theta F\). The result follows fairly direct from a result of Falconer on estimating box dimensions using capacities [\textit{K. J. Falconer}, Fractals Dyn. Math. Sci. Arts, Theory Appl. 5, 1--19 (2020; Zbl 1454.28008)]; see the proof of Theorem 2.2. A reader interested in the result should first read this reference. An example of partial sharpness for the result using the quasi-Assouad dimension is given in Section 3. The example is of the form \(F=X^n\), where \(X\) is a set of numbers \(\sum_{k=1}^\infty a_k 2^{-k}\), with \(a_k \in \{0,1\}\) for all \(k\in \mathbb{N}\) and \(a_k=0\) for all \(k\in \mathbb{N}\setminus S\).
