The Yannelis-Prabhakar theorem on upper semi-continuous selections in paracompact spaces: extensions and applications (Q825156)

The authors prove some equivalent conditions assuring the existence of an upper semicontinuous multiselector for a multifunction between a paracompact and a compact topological space. Then four applications of such results to Walrasian equilibrium theory and non-transitive consumers are presented. This content is embedded into a lenghty historically- metatheoretical divagation from the economical point of view -- so the paper has mainly expository and historical character, typical rather to surveys. Reviewer's remark: A similar usc multiselector theorem is present in papers of \textit{G. M. Nepomnyashchij} (see e.g. [Russ. Math. Surv. 39, No. 3, 213--214 (1984; Zbl 0562.54026); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 39, No. 3(237), 241--242 (1984)] and references given therein). An improved version of the Yannelis-Prabhakar continuous selection theorem may be found in [\textit{X. P. Ding} et al., Bull. Aust. Math.
