Nuclearity (introduced by Grothendieck in 1955) of embeddings for weighted spaces of Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin type are studied. This paper extends the authors' previous work (see, e.g., [\textit{D. D. Haroske} and \textit{L. Skrzypczak}, Rev. Mat. Complut. 21, No. 1, 135--177 (2008; Zbl 1202.46039)]) concerning compactness of the embeddings in question. The weights belong to some Muckenhoupt class and are essentially of polynomial type. The main tools used here are a discretisation in terms of wavelet bases, operator ideal techniques, and a result of Tong about the nuclearity of diagonal operators acting in sequence spaces [\textit{A. Tong}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 143, 235--247 (1969; Zbl 0186.45602)].
