This paper analyses asymptotic dynamical features of self-similar scaled solutions of the one-dimensional dissipative Maxwell models introduced by \textit{D. Ben-Avraham, E. Ben Naim, K. Lindenberg} and \textit{A. Rosas} [Phys Rev. E 68, R050103 (2003)], in which binary collision processes are given by linear collision rules \(v^* = pv + qw\), \(w^* = qv + pv\), with \(v\), \(w\), being the pre-collisional velocites and \(v^*\), \(w^*\) the post-collisional velocities, and \(p\) and \(q\) being positive mixing parameters. According to the value of these parameters, one may recover from this equation a variety of previous special cases, as Kac model, granular model and Lorentz gas among others. A first section of the paper is devoted to the introduction of the subject and a summary of the paper's results. Section 2 introduces an iteration process to be used below, leaving to an appendix the most cumbersome details. From theorems derived in Sections 3 and 4, and by using a metric for probability densities with finite and equal moments introduced by \textit{E. Gabetta, G. Toscani} and \textit{B. Wennberg} [J. Stat. Phys. 81, No. 5--6, 901--934 (1995; Zbl 1081.82616)] to investigate the trend to equilibrium of the solutions of Boltzmann equation for Maxwell molecules, the authors show the uniform in time propagation of regularity for scaled solutions in Sobolev spaces. In Section 5 they show that this result, together with the weak convergence towards the stationary state proven by \textit{L. Pareschi} and \textit{G. Toscani} [J. Stat. Phys. 124, No. 2--4, 747--779 (2006; Zbl 1134.82037)], implies the strong convergence in all Sobolev norms and in the L1 norm towards the stationary solution, depending on the regularity of the initial data. As a consequence, the original nonscaled solutions are also proved to be convergent in \(L^1\) towards the corresponding self-similar homogeneous cooling state. The proof is based on the (uniform in time) control of the tails of the Fourier transform of the solution, and it holds for a large range of values of the mixing parameters \(p\) and \(q\). In particular, in Section 6, in the case of the one-dimensional inelastic Boltzmann equation for Maxwell molecules (\(p + q = 1\)), the result does not depend on the degree of inelasticity; the authors find a convex functional which is suggestive of an entropy functional for the scaled equation, an interesting conjecture not proved in the paper. The authors announce a future paper in which they extend some of the results of this paper to the three-dimensional equation for Maxwell molecules.
