Characterization of almost maximally almost-periodic groups (Q837632)

The author gives a partial answer to the question which Abelian groups \(G\) admit a Hausdorff group topology \(\tau\) such that \(n(n(G,\tau))\neq n(G,\tau)\) where \(n(G,\tau)\) is the von Neumann radical. Namely, the author proves that the answer to this question is negative for torsion free groups and is positive for groups that are not torsion free.
