Let \(G\) be the group scheme \(\text{GL}_n\) over the integers. Let \(\rho\) be the half sum of the positive roots. The first main result, in the numbering of the author, is as follows. Let \(K_\lambda\) denote the Weyl module with highest weight \(\lambda\). Suppose \(\lambda,\mu\) are dominant weights such that \(\mu-\lambda\) is a positive root \(\alpha\). Then \(\text{Ext}^i_G(K_\lambda,K_\mu)\) is cyclic of order \(\langle\lambda+\rho,\alpha^\vee\rangle+1\) for \(i=1\) and vanishes for all other \(i\). The second main result uses the language of partitions rather than dominant weights. It computes \(\text{Ext}^1_G(\Lambda_{|\lambda|},K_\lambda)\) where \(\lambda\) is a partition of \(|\lambda|\) and \(\Lambda_m\) denotes the \(m\)-th exterior power of the defining representation. The proofs use the Skew Representative Theorem of \textit{U. Kulkarni} [J. Algebra 224, No. 2, 248-262 (2000; Zbl 0958.20006)] and also require a detailed understanding of some complexes of skew Schur functors. The paper contains many comments about related subjects, such as modular representation theory of \(\text{GL}_n\).
