Conduction through an assembly of spherical particles at low liquid contents (Q860076)

In this paper, the steady-state conduction of heat through the solid phase of a porous material consisting of an assembly of simple packed cubic spheres at low liquid contents is analyzed. Analytical solutions are presented for the case that the areas of contact between the spheres are approximately hemispherical. At several stages, references to equations contained in the literature are given which are itself not stated in the paper -- this makes the rather technical paper, involving mostly engineering mathematics of the early 20th century, unfortunately not entirely self-contained.
