The author considers a real-analytic function germ \(f\) at the origin of the \(n\)-dimensional Euclidean space, whose critical locus contains a given real-analytic set \(X\). If \(Y\) is a germ of a closed subset at the origin, then he studies the stability of \(f\) under perturbations \(u\) that are flat on \(Y\) and belong to a given Denjoy-Carleman non-quasianalytic class. The main result extends and simplifies some other results of the author on germs with isolated critical points [J. Math. Pures Appl. 76, 499--524 (1997; Zbl 0878.58008), Manuscr. Math. 99, 203--222 (1999; Zbl 0966.58021), Math. Nachr. 227, 143--157 (2001; Zbl 1001.46016), Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 134, 1527--1536 (2006; Zbl 1090.58022)].
