The article deals with weak and strong convergence of iterations \[ x_{n+1} = (1 - \alpha_n)x_n + \alpha_nT^nx_n,\;n \geq 1, \] to a fixed point of a \(k\)-strictly asymptotically pseudocontractive map \(T: \;K \to K\), where \(K\) is a nonempty closed convex subset of a real \(q\)-uniformly smooth and uniformly convex Banach space \(E\). The authors' approach is based on the use of the fact that, under some natural conditions, the operator \(I - T\) is demiclosed at zero.
