The index theory of Toeplitz and Wiener-Hopf operators was applied by Hurst and Carey to quantum field theory in the late 70s and early 80s of the previous century. In this note, the author explain its relation to some recent works of Carey and his collaborators in noncommutative geometry. Especially, the author explains an odd analogue of Connes and Moscovici's index theorem, i.e., an index theorem for Toeplitz operators in noncommutative geometry [\textit{A. L. Carey, J. Phillips, A. Rennie} and \textit{F. A. Sukochev}, Adv. Math. 202, No. 2, 451--516 (2006; Zbl 1118.46060)]. Here ``odd'' means that one considers the ungraded spectral triples.
